I’m happy to greet you on behalf of NAAL – professional organisation of applied linguists. Our association unites hundreds of people from every corner of Russia. Now that applied linguistics in general and foreign language teaching in particular have become a real challenge and an acute social problem, it is the applied linguist who is in the centre of attention.
- Has the number of students of foreign languages in Russia ever been so large?
- Has foreign language study in Russia ever been an issue of linguistic pluralism on the background of various national languages and cultures?
- Has there ever been in Russia such a diversity of language teaching methods, approaches, and teaching materials?
The answer is obvious: No
